“Now You Know” is the latest film for the NO Project, an initiative that taps the artistic skills of young people to raise awareness about human trafficking, with the goal of changing the behaviour that supports it. The film is a revealing look at how our own decisions – some suspect, but some as innocuous as our choice in coffee – can support the enslavement of our fellow human beings. It was made by Hothouse Productions, a student film company from Boston University in the USA and a partner organisation of the NO Project, alongside other groups representing young artists and creators.
The NO Project provides a platform for the creativity of young people by channelling it into a worthy cause. There is lot of high-quality content beyond “Now You Know” featured on the site, much of which was developed in partnership with the NO Project, including more films and short videos, books, paintings, art and dance and music videos. There are several informative articles about the modern day slave trade and a number of moving stories by its victims. The site also features a web store, where concerned readers can buy a T-shirt to support the initiative.
The NO Project website is an essential visit for young artists keen to gain exposure and fight a degrading crime, as well as anyone seeking to learn more about modern-day slavery and the behaviour that enables it to thrive. You can visit their site here and follow them on Facebook here.
