In December 2010 the Arab Spring began spreading across North Africa and Middle East. The autocrats in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen have been overthrown. In Syria the civil uprising began in January 2011 when police assaulted a man in Damascus, arresting him after the assault. Thereafter, more arrests followed creating a nationwide wave of protests. The protests erupted in Damascus demanding release of political prisoners and were followed in Aleppo, al-Hasakah, Daraa, Deir ez-Zor, and Hama. The gatherings were distracted with violence by the police. Since then the struggle for freedom began as people of Syria did not give up their hopes to overthrow the ruling for over fifty years regime, and continue its fight until today.
Matthew VanDyke an American documentary film-maker, decided to create a short documentary presenting the struggle of the Syrian people making a short documentary Not Anymore; A story of Revolution. An award winning documentary movie is based on the story of 32 year old rebel fighter Mowya, and a 24 year old female journalist, Nour. They are filmed in Aleppo in the Northern part of Syria. It introduces the reason why the Syrian people are fighting for their freedom and how their life changed. The stories are filled with emotions, expressed by the two main characters of the movie.
