Would you recognise your wife if you walked by her on the street? What about your sister or your brother? Or your grandmother?
A group of people volunteered to disguise themselves as homeless. They then had their unsuspecting relatives walk by them on the street. What happens next is astonishing.
Homelessness is a complex issue and those who are homeless are often faced with a form of discrimination unlike no other. Because of the social stigma attached to anyone who lives on the streets, they are often ridiculed for being lazy and worthless. Many of us – even if we don’t realise it – go out of our way to avoid the homeless man sitting on the sit of the road as we walk by him.
This video created by New York Rescue Mission highlights just how serious the problem has become and is bound to bring a tear to your eye when you realise that, yes, you’re guilty of doing it too.
