On 16 December 2014, seven members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) conducted a terrorist attack on the Army Public School in the Pakistani city of Peshawar.
Picture this: You wake up, do your daily chores and say good-bye to your loved ones and leave your home, only to never return back. Heart-breaking, isn’t it? Life is extremely unpredictable but the rise in terrorism and violent anti-social activities has made the human existence more temporal than ever. The Peshawar attack on innocent school children is the most nerve-wrenching act of horror committed on the grounds of religion.
A TTP spokes person stated “To hurt them at their safe haven and homes—such an attack is perfect revenge.” Stating the heinous inhumane actions to be a ‘act of revenge’ does not account for the crimes committed.
The killing of innocent non-combatants is forbidden. According to Sunni tradition, ‘Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, the first Caliph, gave these instructions to his armies: “I instruct you in ten matters: Do not kill women, children, the old, or the infirm; do not cut down fruit-bearing trees; do not destroy any town . . . ” (Malik’s Muwatta’, “Kitab al-Jihad.”)
The video shared below is a perfect depiction of the pains and perils of an individual child viewing the acts of crime: an innocent perception. Unaware of what the future holds for him, the young child leaves an imprinting message that we adults who claim to be more ‘wise and knowledgeable’ need to embrace and pass on.
