WATCH: The Future Of The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Five Broken Cameras, a documentary nominated for the 2013 Oscars, has been acclaimed as the most successful video of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Perhaps equally as significant however was the footage of the documentary being shown to a class of young Israeli students. The reactions of the students, whom in a few years will be conscripted into military service, dispel the stereotype of impenetrable Israeli ideals. Many are moved to tears, seemingly unknowing of the daily effects of the conflict on Palestinian lives.

Documented and published on YouTube, Guy Davidi speaks of how when he was young he also wasn’t told about the protests, the night raids and violation of basic rights happening every day. A testament to the power of education and the continuity of conflict that censorship brings in Israel, the short clip demonstrates the current control the Ministry of Education has over Israeli youth and the future of the conflict.
