NGOs make camp appeal in Somalia
Aid agencies have made an appeal for aid to fund a camp in Dadaab, where nearly 400,000 people are seeking refuge. They claim that the world’s largest refugee camp is running out of financial power, putting tens of thousands of lives at risk. Oxfam and Save the Children are amongst eight agencies that claim they are in need of $25million, where now 30,000 tents are needed but can only afford 4000. The camp, also homes tens of thousands of Somalis who have fled poverty and violence. A claim has been made to neighboring Kenya.
Materialized threat of rebel violence in Goma, Congo
Mutineer soldiers in Congo have threatened to provoke violence in the eastern city of Goma. They say they will do so if attacks against civilians in the city don’t cease. The news has surfaced after the United Nations announced that it would redeploy peacekeepers to the region. Previously, Mutineer soldiers said they wouldn’t march on Goma. The group M23 has failed to keep to a peace agreement that was settled in March three years ago.

Militants kill nine Pakistani police
Militants in the Rasool park area in the province of Khyber Paktunkhwa have shot at least nine trainee police officers dead. The Taliban has claimed the attack. Reports claim that the attack occurred shortly after ten masked people arrived on motorcycles, armed. This is the second attack of this kind to occur recently in the central Punjab province. The gunmen escaped at the scene.
Ambassador for Syria defects from al-Assad regime
A senior ambassador of Syria has defected from President al-Assad’s regime. The ambassador of Iraq, Nawaf Fares, is the first ambassador to make such a decision. He announced his new allegience in a statement on a social networking site, as well as al-Jazeera TV station.

Peru launch project in struggle against child labour
The United States has donated money to set up a pilot scheme that aims to fight child labour in Peru. 28% of all children in Peru are forced to work, according to International Labour Organization. The scheme aims to boost education and resources across the poorest regions. The Project Director said that although child labour isn’t opposed to in Peru, it must not however affect their education. She added “We believe that we need to look at the conditions under which adolescents work, making sure they do so with proper training, without exceeding working hours and never in dangerous activities”.

Mitt Romney jeered in speech on healthcare bill
Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential campaign has been heckled and booed by a civil rights group. The response occurred when Romney said he has plans to “kill” the Obama healthcare overhaul if he won the race to the whitehouse in November. Mr Romney also added that he would be a better president than the incumbent President Obama for African Americans. In 2008 Obama held 95% of support from African American’s across the country. Republican legislators have said they plan to vote on an appeal to the health law.
