4 Reasons Why The Upcoming Pakistani Elections Are So Important

The upcoming general elections are of paramount importance to the history of Pakistan. This is the first time that a democratically elected government, free from the shackles of military rule or dictatorship, has transitioned power to another. This is also the first time that the most democratic of mediums, i.e. digital and social media, are being employed to communicate, collaborate, monitor and report on the elections.

The importance of these upcoming elections should not be underestimated.

Our partners at PakVotes have created some incredibly powerful posters, which highlight just some of the reasons why using your vote is a resposibility for all Pakistanis.

60% of government schools in the country have no electricity, 3.8 million children are forced into child labour, 882 civilian fatalities occurred this year due to terrorism, and there is a 3:1 ratio of doctors to nurses in the country.

Informed decisions affects change.

  1. Great initiative. More needs to be done at the grassroots level to educate, inform and keep the citizens aware. Social media is an excellent tool however doesn’t have much outreach. Lets hope and pray for a successful election and hopefully democracy won’t disappoint us.
