WATCH: Rape – It’s Time To Stop Blaming The Victim

As rape cases continue to rise in India, and the number of comments blaming the victims for these rapes rises even faster, one has to wonder what it’s going to take for even the country’s top politicians and government officials to understand that rape is not the victim’s fault. Maybe what it takes is one sarcastic, strongly worded video to go viral? Well, we’ve got that now.

Over the last few days a video created by All India Bakchod has been circulating the web. Maintaining a cheerful tone throughout, one woman mocks the view many hold about rape being the victim’s fault. Mainly targeting an Indian audience – who are growing increasingly frustrated – the video attacks those prominent figures of India’s society who have shamed the country with their ridiculous remarks about rape victims.

She should have just called them brother and they would have stopped raping her, was one suggestion.

Guilty of deserving being raped if the girl was out with guy friends, said another, whilst also making sure that we knew if she wasn’t out with guy friends who could protect her, she was crazy.

AIB365’s video highlights this growing problem in India’s society and cleverly addresses this blame game that is also taking place in other parts of the world.
