Tear Gas And Rubber Bullets Fired On Pakistani Protestors

Imran Khan was once famous for his sports career as a cricketer, however many are now familiar with his work as a Pakistani Politician. Belonging to the party ‘Tehreek-e-Insaf’ which translates to ‘movement for justice’, he has created a strong anti-corruption movement and a message. His rallies and speeches are known for drawing up to 100,000 people.

Since early August, Imran Khan and Canadian Cleric Dr. Tahir ul Qadri have been busy asking protestors and the public to help hold the current Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to account. Nawaz Shrif came into power in 2013, his victory is allegedly due to rigged votes, however he refuses to resign and has ordered to fire tear gas and rubber bullets on anti-government protestors. Khan’s supporters were also beaten with Police batons in Islamabad. Last night, the spokesman for the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Islamabad stated that 164 injured people have been taken to that hospital, while the Poly Clinic hospital said it had received 70 wounded and continues to do so.

There is a lot of confusion over the exact number of injured people, Pakistani news outlets ‘ARY News’ and ‘Samma News’ have made claims that hospitals are being prevented from being told the exact number of injured or people killed by the government. According to the telegraph, most of the victims had been injured by rubber bullets, and that 17 of them were women.

Nawaz Sharif has since shifted to his residence in Lahore which is being protected by Police. Khan has stated that he will also file murder cases against the current Prime Minister. Sharif still refuses to resign and the protests carry on. Meanwhile online hacktivists, Anonymous, have launched a cyber attack on the Pakistani government due to the inhumane treatment which has been carried out on protestors by the police. The twitter account @AnonymousGlobo have posted a YouTube video addressing protestors of Ferguson, Pro-Parlestine and Pakistani Anti-goverment protestors, calling out Nawaz Sharif to resign.
